The Sanctum installation, developed specifically for Tenuta Dello Scompiglio, involves all the senses of the visitor. The last room in which the visitors concluded their trip to Kerguénnec, in the installation "The relativity of matter", becomes the starting point for a more complex installation in the exhibition space of Tenuta Dello Scompiglio. Levi van Veluw based Sanctum on the first religious building, the Tabernacle, also called the meeting tent. This tent served as a place of worship and symbolized the presence of God in the midst of those who had gathered. The interior of the Tabernacle consisted of three spaces: the Courtyard (or Piazzale), the Sacred Place and the Sanctuary (or Sancta Sanctorum), sacred in ascending gradation. Like the Tabernacle, Levi van Veluw's work presents symmetry and harmony, to express the effort towards divine perfection and reflect divine holiness through the accurate gradations of the three phases. As such, it plays with the secular composition of the religious structure and therefore draws the viewer deeper and deeper into the Sanctuary.
The installation will be visible from April 27 to September 27, 2019.
